MHQP Preventive Care Guidelines and Action Plans

As a group, doctors in Massachusetts tend to be among the best in nation. So, you are likely to find one or more doctor's office near you that gets high marks for excellence. But finding the best doctor for you and your family is only part of the challenge of getting the best care. You also need to understand what high-quality care looks like and work with your doctor to ensure that you are getting it.

One way to do this is to review the information in these healthcare guidelines and action plans:

Massachusetts Health Quality Partners (MHQP) created these tools to give all doctors in the state a set of consistent guidelines that define excellence in health care. And we make these same materials available to you because we believe that, when both doctors and their patients know how quality is defined, they can work together to achieve it.

Each tool was developed jointly by MHQP and a group of doctors and other experts in quality care, representing the Massachusetts Department of Public Health; the Massachusetts Medical Society; the Massachusetts Hospital Association; and several health plans, professional societies, and advocacy organizations. The tools are based on the latest recommendations from nationally recognized sources, such as the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
