Perinatal Guidelines

Perinatal care is the care a woman receives when she is pregnant and during childbirth. MHQP created a set of health care guidelines to help doctors take care of pregnant women. Those same guidelines also are helpful for women to review and discuss with their doctors.

The perinatal care guidelines were developed with many other state and national organizations interested in women's health. The guidelines can help pregnant women be healthy, and can be used as a guide to make sure that women are getting high quality health care during pregnancy, childbirth, and beyond. The guidelines can tell you about the health care a woman should receive at each stage of pregnancy, and touch on a variety of topics including what tests to have and when, as well as talking to your doctor about diet, oral health, mental health, and more.
